Around Bellingham

In the heart of Bellingham's historic Fairhaven district, beautiful Lairmont Manor and Estate is an easy drive from surrounding communities.

The city's proximity to Seattle (80 miles south) and Vancouver B.C. (50 miles north) makes this historic mansion an attractive choice for people looking to host their wedding or special event somewhere different to their hometown but conveniently close by.

Rich in history and culture and surrounded by some of the Northwest's most beautiful wilderness areas, a stay in Fairhaven gives your guests plenty to enjoy.

Bellingham is a great place to visit. A university town (home to Western Washington University), Bellingham has many beautiful historic homes, stately streets, and lovely parks. Several museums and top galleries showcase local art, history and culture, and restaurants offer the best in northwestern dining.

The local arts scene is thriving in this cultured city, with local music, theatre and visual arts on show. The annual summer music festival, with over two weeks of orchestral, chamber, and jazz performances, draws many to Bellingham.

Once a small country town, Fairhaven is a community that has retained its upscale historic character. Many elegant homes, including Lairmont Manor and Estate, reside here and the historic shopping district has many art galleries, antique shops, and unique local coffeehouses and restaurants. A local landmark, Village Books is an excellent independent bookstore. Fairhaven also has a beautiful boutique hotel and a charming inn and spa.

Fairhaven is Bellingham's key transportation hub. Amtrak and Greyhound bus service Fairhaven Station, linking Bellingham to Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. Ferries depart the Bellingham Cruise terminal for Alaska, the San Juan Islands, and Victoria B.C.

Several day spas and golf courses are found near Fairhaven, and for nature lovers, the nearby Chuckanut Drive leads out of the city through the Chuckanut Mountains, offering travelers stunning views over Samish Bay and the San Juan Islands. Several parks, hiking trails, and beautiful Pacific Ocean beaches are accessed from this roadway.
